Robotics and Artificial Intelligence technologies for Medical Applications

Companies using medical robotics will be the focus of the spring 2018 cohort at the HighTechXL accelerator program. Robotics is becoming increasingly more important in modern-day healthcare, and the role of the high-tech industry in the medical world will only continue to increase. HighTechXL’s globally renowned program offers startups the opportunity to work on these solutions in collaboration with market leaders like Philips, ASML and NTS-Group. Located in Eindhoven, Europe’s high-tech region, the program offers a tight network and expert coaching.

Medical care is shifting from the traditional and expensive hospital setting to an integrated care process. Therefore, care needs to be provided wherever and whenever it is needed. How can we do that? By using smart environments that adapt to our needs. Think about intelligent robots that can guide high-precision treatments through AI and perform surgeries remotely. Or new sensor technologies that can continuously monitor your health, wherever you may be. Or life-saving healthcare services, such as Tele-radiology, through which you can remotely diagnose patients using medical image acquisition. This shift creates a high need for advanced technologies to be applied in this field. Therefore, HighTechXL is looking for startups with one or multiple of the following technologies and/or applications and who can benefit from collaborations with Philips, ASML, NTS-Group and the Eindhoven Startup Alliance.

  • Mechatronics
  • Big Data
  • Machine Learning & AI
  • Robotics
  • Precision Engineering

Diagnosis and Treatment in health disciplines like:
  • Cardiology
  • Oncology
  • Neurology
  • Surgery

Philips is a technology company that cares about people. With unique insights and expertise in both the consumer and professional healthcare domains, Philips aims to deliver innovations across the health continuum – from healthy living and prevention, to diagnosis, treatment and home care.

For over 30 years, ASML has been pushing innovation in semiconductor technology, and its lithography machines have been one of the main driving forces behind the continuation of Moore’s law. Following its technology roadmap, ASML has meanwhile become the world leader in technology fields like precision mechatronics, high-accuracy optics, advanced robotics, complex system integration and industrialization of manufacturing solutions and processes.

The NTS-Group develops, produces, assembles and tests complex (opto) mechatronic systems and mechanical modules for large, high-tech machine manufacturers (OEMs). As a first-tier systems supplier, the focus is on companies who are active in markets with high levels of product diversity, low volumes and high complexity, such as the semiconductor, life sciences and digital printing markets, in which precision and maneuverability are paramount. The NTS-Group excels in these disciplines, advising and assisting customers in the realization of their objectives throughout the machine's entire lifecycle.

The program

HighTechXL is initiated and funded by the Eindhoven Startup Alliance, consisting of Philips, ASML, EY, NTS Group, High Tech Campus Eindhoven, BOM and ABN AMRO Bank. From initial prototype to market launch, the HighTechXL Accelerator program is designed to fast-track startups while also preparing them to become investor-ready. The format provides structured access to finance, facilities, and tested methodology. Startups get a strong base for growth through our tightly-knit community of international mentors, partners and entrepreneurs.

You should
  •  be a great and committed team
  •  have a working prototype or demonstrator
  •  be able to realize a usable product or service in the next 2 years
  • be able to pitch through video conferencing or face-to-face on the proposed dates
  • understand that participation in the program is based on an equity deal, of which the majority is performance-based

  • What’s in it for you?
Selected startups participate in the 7th edition of the HighTechXL business accelerator program in Spring 2018
    • A 3-month result-oriented program run by the experienced HighTechXL Team with focus on customer traction and funding
    • Hundreds of hours of expert support not just from ASML, Philips and NTS, but also specialists from EY, ABNAMRO Bank in expertise areas such as sales, engineering, manufacturing, IP, supply chain, finance, legal, internationalization and investment
    • Explore pilots with our partnering companies and beyond
    • Support from hundreds of mentors formally connected to HighTechXL
    • Easy access to potential customers, partners and suppliers
    • Professional workspace at the High Tech Campus Eindhoven, the prime tech campus in Europe, where 160 companies and institutes are based
    • €15.000 cash contribution

The deadline for applications is February 12th.
Up to 20 finalists will be selected and invited to the finals on March 11th at the High Tech Campus and on March 12th at ASML headquarters, in the Eindhoven area, the Netherlands.

The winners will be announced during the final networking & pitch event!
